The Register of Deeds is responsible for recording or filing records affecting the legal status of real and personal property, such as deeds, mortgages, leins, plats, and other documents. The Register of Deeds is also responsible for collecting transfer and mortgage taxes.

Scott County Register of Deeds is Ashley Riseden. She has served in that capacity since 2018. Her office is located in the Scott County Courthouse in Huntsville. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
