District Attorney General

Scott County is in Tennessee’s 8th Judicial District, which also includes Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress and Union counties.

Jared Effler serves as District Attorney General in the 8th Judicial District. Mr. Effler, a native of Maynardville, has served as attorney general since 2014. His local offices are located at the Scott County Justice Center on Scott High Drive in Huntsville.

Scott County is located on the northern Cumberland Plateau, along the Tennessee-Kentucky border. It is home to the fifth-largest national park in the eastern U.S. (the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area) and the second-largest tract of public land in Tennessee (the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area).
