Welcome to the Scott County, Tennessee web site. Scott County is located on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee and joins Kentucky to the north. We have an abundance of recreational opportunities in our community including hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting and all-terrain vehicle riding. The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area encompasses over 115,000 acres in our backyard as well as several other national and state parks within a short driving distance. If you have an interest in outdoor recreation adventures then we have a sport for you.

Scott County has three local municipal governments – the towns of Oneida, Huntsville and Winfield – that encompass the retail centers in Scott County. Property is readily available to build the home of your dreams or you may find one on the current residential housing market in one of Scott County’s wonderful subdivisions.

Scott County has two school systems – Scott County Schools and the Oneida Special School District – that provide quality education from Pre-K through 12th grades and Roane State Community College for post secondary education with opportunities to earn both associates and bachelor degrees. Additionally, Scott County has one of the largest vocational training centers in the state at the Tennessee Technology Center.

Many nationally recognized manufacturing companies are located in Scott County including: Armstrong/Bruce Flooring, Barna Log Homes, Great Dane Trailers, and Tennier Industries. These companies and many other regionally renowned businesses make up the commercial/business climate in Scott County.

One highlight not yet mentioned is the Scott County Airport. With a 5,500-foot runway, instrument approach, aircraft fuel sales, a new terminal and hanger the airport is centrally located within 500 miles of much of the eastern United States. When flying in or out of Scott County the views of the Big South Fork and the Cumberland Plateau are truly magnificent.
