The Scott County School System and Oneida Special School District provide primary and secondary education, while Roane State Community College maintains a campus in Huntsville. Tennessee Technological University offers upper level courses through Roane State, allowing students to obtain certain bachelor’s or master’s degrees without leaving Scott County, and vocational courses are offered at the Tennessee Technology Center in Oneida and Huntsville. The University of Tennessee is located just 70 miles south in Knoxville, while Tennessee Tech is located approximately 70 miles west in Cookeville.
