HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. — Scott County has appointed an independent, three-person Audit Committee to oversee accountability of public funds and increase transparency within local government.
The Board of County Commissioners gave final approval to the committee at its March regular session Monday evening. With staggered terms ranging from one year to three years, the Audit Committee will oversee all financial management activities in Scott County.
Appointed to the board were: Jerry Slaven (president and CEO, JDS Technologies, Inc., one-year term), Dave Cross (CEO, Plateau Electric Cooperative, two-year term) and Melvin Stephens (First Trust & Savings Bank, three-year term).
The appointment of an Audit Committee helps Scott County conform to requirements of the state's 3-Star community program, and meets the recommendations of the State Comptroller's Office.
