HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. — Wendy Walker, a decade-long veteran of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, will be Scott County's next Emergency Management Agency director.
Ms. Walker's appointment as EMA director was confirmed by Scott County Commission when commissioners met in regular session on Feb. 18. She will officially assume the duties of her new role in early March.
Scott County Mayor Jeff Tibbals appointed Walker as the EMA director after interviews with the top five applicants from a field of persons interested in the position. Scott County Commission chairman pro tem and interim EMA director Paul Strunk joined Mayor Tibbals for the selection process.
Ms. Walker was an 11-year veteran of the Scott County Ambulance Service prior to joining the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
She replaces Wayne Shoemaker, who resigned his role as EMA director in September 2013 to devote full time to his duties as Scott County's Emergency Communications District director.
