County Clerk

The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for maintaining the records of Scott County’s legislative body, as well as collecting business taxes, maintaining motor vehicle registrations and licensing, and a variety of other civil duties. Marriage licenses, pawnbroker licenses, and certain other types of licenses are issued through the clerk’s office.

Amanda Chambers Sexton has served as Scott County’s Clerk since 2026. Her office is located in the County Courthouse, at 283 Court Street in Huntsville. Business hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will be open one Saturday a month. Please see attached schedule below.

 

The Clerk’s Office processes driver’s license renewals, requests for duplicates, handgun carry permit renewals and duplicates, and REAL ID transactions Monday through Friday at the County Courthouse in Huntsville from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ask that you arrive no later than 3:45 p.m.
